John Dodo, gone but not forgotten (1598-1681)

It took less than a century for the last dodo to die  after the species' discovery in 1598 on the island of  Mauritius off the Indian Ocean.
Just what a Dodo looked like is still a mystery, some described them as being fat and wobbly, while others recalled them as being a slender bird.  One of the most famous and often copied paintings of a dodo specimen was taken from the painting done by Roelant Savery in 1626, and this is my interpretation as a commemoration to the loathsome bird of Mauritius with a Victorian/Gothic touch.
